Can You Ask Claude About Your Apple Health Data

Yes. Add it as a custom Claude connector with one URL, tick what you want to share, and ask about your sleep, activity, glucose, meals, blood tests and more.

Yes, you can ask Claude about your Apple Health data through HealthOS. Claude does not access Apple Health directly; it sees HealthOS data that the HealthOS iPhone app last synced. HealthOS is not listed in the Claude or ChatGPT directories unless the HealthOS connectors page says so; add it as a custom connector with one URL, tick what you want to share, and then ask plain-language questions about your sleep, activity, glucose, meals, blood tests and more.

How to connect Claude

  1. 1.On claude.ai, the desktop app, or the mobile app, open Settings → Connectors.
  2. 2.Choose Add custom connector and paste https://mcp.healthosx.com/mcp.
  3. 3.Name the connector and approve the scopes on the HealthOS consent screen.
  4. 4.Start a new chat, open the tools menu, switch the connector on, and ask.

See the Claude setup page for the current four-step setup. Custom connectors work on every Claude plan. On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner may need to add the connector first before it appears in your own chats.

For Claude Code or another MCP client, create a personal token in the HealthOS iPhone app under Settings → Account → API access and use bearer auth with https://api.healthosx.com/api/mcp. OAuth is for the claude.ai, desktop, and mobile custom connector.

What the connector shares by default
Scope or actionDefaultWhat it means
Reading (activity, sleep, glucose, meals, blood tests and more)OnClaude can answer questions from those records
Writing and loggingOffClaude cannot add meals, weight or water until you tick it
DNAOffClaude can return findings and lookups only after you tick it
ExportOffClaude cannot export your data until you tick it
Ask, community, account changesOffThese stay closed until you deliberately open them
Destructive, payment and sharing toolsRequires confirm:trueThese tools refuse to run without a yes from you

Reading is on by default. Writes, DNA, export, Ask, community and account changes stay off until you tick them. Destructive, payment and sharing tools require confirm:true.

What Claude can see, and when it sees it

HealthOS shares only the scopes you tick on the consent screen. Reading is on by default across activity, sleep, glucose, meals, blood tests and more. Writing, logging, DNA, export, Ask, community and account changes all start off. Turn them on only if you want them.

HealthOS states Claude receives only the scopes you ticked, and only when a question needs it.

Claude only gets what you ticked, and only when a question needs it.

Freshness matters more than people expect. Apple Health data and glucose arrive through the iPhone app. If your phone has not synced since Tuesday, Claude sees Tuesday. It can tell you the phone_last_sync_at value, so you can check freshness before trusting an answer. What Claude receives is handled under Anthropic’s privacy policy and your Claude account settings.

What this looks like in your own numbers

The glucose figure above is example only. A real curve comes from your records, so a meal that produced a clear spike will show that shape rather than an average. Units and format depend on your own data.

The same applies to blood tests. You can ask "Compare my last two blood tests" and get a summary of which markers moved, which left the reference range, and what stayed flat.

What about DNA and blood test results?

DNA is off by default. If you tick it on, over OAuth the connector returns findings and lookups, never the whole genome. Blood tests are part of reading, so Claude can summarise and compare what you have.

This is not a medical device and Claude can be wrong. If a marker sits outside the reference range, or a change is large and persistent, treat it as a reason to look closer and ask your doctor about it. The assistant is useful for reading your own records in plain words, not for deciding treatment.

How to disconnect, and how long the connection lasts

Disconnect in Settings → Connected apps in the iPhone app or on app.healthosx.com. Tap Disconnect and access stops straight away. You do not have to wait for a token to expire.

A connection lasts at most a year. After 365 days the approval expires and you are asked again. Under the hood, access tokens last one hour and refresh tokens rotate every time they are used. The limits are 60 calls a minute and 2,000 tool calls a day per connection.

Common setup notes

HealthOS is not listed in the Claude or ChatGPT directories unless the HealthOS connectors page says so; add it as a custom connector with one URL. Connected does not mean everything is shared. Reading starts on. Writes and DNA start off. Destructive, payment and sharing tools require confirm:true before they run.

Open the Claude setup page for the current four-step setup and the connector overview for the current list of what you can ask. When you connect, start with one question about your own numbers and see what the assistant actually returns.
