What it measures

The fraction of testosterone not bound to protein and therefore available to your tissues. It often explains symptoms better than the total does, especially when SHBG is unusual.

The fraction not bound to SHBG, so it moves with sleep, body fat, training load, alcohol and age. Draw timing matters — it peaks in the morning.
