What it measures

The main form of oestrogen, central to the menstrual cycle and to bone health, and present and necessary in men too. In women the result only means something against the day of the cycle.

What moves it

In women, dominated by cycle phase — the day of the draw matters more than anything else. In men it rises with body fat via conversion from testosterone.
